Is it possible to build a Datsun Z car for under $5K? So far we've been able to stay under a $5000 budget for our 1981 Datsun 280ZX turbo build project car. We thought it would be helpful to created a mini buyers guide with tips on how we've managed to stay under $5000 along with a list of places we've purchased Datsun parts. We also put together a YouTube video with more details on work we've done and plan to do on the Datsun 280ZX Turbo build.

So I've been creating and uploading more video content to our small YouTube Channel and YouTube provides some interesting analytics on how your channel and/or video performs over time. During some investigation on view performance, I discovered my YouTube titles needed some work. I'd previously posted a video on how to tune a carburetor on my 1982 Chevy El Camino, but the video wasn't performing well. I was curious if my content was really that bad. So I started digging into the YouTube video…

Why is the Datsun 280ZX hated?

You’re searching for a Datsun Z car and you start to wonder why you can easily find a late 70s early 80s Datsun 280ZX. You soon realize that the prices aren’t too bad either. As you look closer, you realize that the front and rear bumper are HUGE. Then you tell yourself, I can get rid of those ugly bumpers, but you find that there isn’t a whole lot of aftermarket body kits for the 280ZX. In fact, the more you dig into the Datsun 280ZX you realize…

Purchasing a 1972 Datsun 510 2 Door Build Bluebird

Accidentally found a 1972 Datsun 510 2 Door Bluebird

I was recently browsing for Datsun 280zx parts on craigslist in my area when I stumbled across a Datsun 510 2 door for sale. The 510 is quite rare, especially for a 2 door. I’d hunted for a Datsun 510 before I bought the 81 Datsun 280zx but always came up empty-handed.

Can you really obtain a Free virtual switch…

Virtual NOS images can help you get your feet wet into the wonderful world of ITBuilds without the need for purchasing physical switches. There are tons of virtual switches or ITBuilds operating systems that can be loaded onto your favorite hypervisor that can be had for free. However, one must scour the ends of the Internet for a legitimate downloadable virtual NOS. I want to save you some time and heartache, so I’ve compiled some…

The Issue

The Wi-Fi signal in the garage and upstairs hasn’t been working too well at home. I have a couple of spare Extreme Networks cloud capable access points (previously Aerohive APs) and an Extreme Networks x440g2-24t that I pick up from eBay. The plan is to install an AP in the garage, the other upstairs, and the x440g2 will be setup in my home office.

Too much clutter

I’ve been trying to reduce the clutter in my home office, and part of that clutter are two of my custom built computer rigs. One is a mid-sized ATX Windows gaming rig, and the other is just collecting dust.

1981 Datsun 280ZX Turbo Build

My day job continues to revolve around IT-related ITBuilds work, and I tend to spend quite a bit of time on other tech related builds. So I decided it was time to get away from the keyboard and embark on a non-IT-related build.

FreeNAS ODROID H2 Home Build

In this video I discuss transforming an Odroid-H2 into a home network attached storage device using FreeNAS. FreeNAS is a purpose built operating system that can turn any extra PC hardware into a NAS. I needed a place to store a backup of my newly created Youtube video content so FreeNAS was the perfect fit for my Odroid-H2 . The build consists of an Odriod-H2, an NVMe drive, 2 SATA SSD drives, and an emmc storage card.…
